The St Barnabas College Library offers both physical and digital resources to support your academic journey, including access to a wide range of theological texts, journals, and databases. As part of the University of Divinity, students also have borrowing rights at other affiliated libraries across Australia. Library orientation sessions and one on one research support are available to help you make the most of these resources and develop your skills for lifelong learning.

From research and referencing to time management and study skills, we’re here to help you succeed.

English Language Support

We welcome students from all language backgrounds and provide support to help you engage confidently with your studies. Our team offers assistance with academic writing, reading strategies, and understanding theological terminology.

Support may include:

  • Help with essay structure and referencing

  • Understanding assignment requirements

  • Strategies for reading theological texts in English

IT and Digital Access

As part of your enrolment at St Barnabas College, you’ll receive access to essential digital systems to support your study experience. All students are provided with a dedicated SBC email address, and Wi-Fi login details are distributed at the beginning of the semester. These tools ensure you can stay connected, informed, and ready to engage fully in your learning.

Support may include:

  • Access to your SBC student email and Wi-Fi

  • Guidance on using the University of Divinity’s online platforms

  • Help with logging in to systems like Paradigm and the Learning Management System (LMS)

Student Wellbeing

Orientation is a valuable introduction to life at St Barnabas College, designed to help new students feel supported, informed, and confident as they begin their studies. You’ll be introduced to the campus, support services, key systems, and academic expectations, and have a chance to meet staff and fellow students.

Orientation is held each February for Semester 1 entry and in July for Semester 2 entry, and is compulsory for all new students.

  • ARK and Moodle (online learning platforms)

  • Academic support and referencing

  • Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) training

St Barnabas College offers individualised learning support designed to help students succeed, no matter their background or experience. The program is tailored to assist students at every stage of their studies, whether they’re working on their first assignment or pursuing a degree. Our focus is on developing essential academic skills in a supportive and approachable environment.

Support covers:

  • Reading and understanding assignment questions

  • Structuring and writing essays, reports, and other assignments

  • Understanding and applying academic feedback

  • Checking grammar, expression, and improving editing and proofreading skills

This service is ideal for any student seeking to grow in confidence and capability throughout their learning journey.

Academic support is delivered by Caralyn Lammas, Coordinator of Education Programs, who offers one-on-one appointments on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm during Semester 1 (March – June) and Semester 2 (August – November).

  • Each appointment is 30 minutes long

  • Students may book up to 4 appointments per semester

  • Sessions can be held in person at the College or online

  • Appointments must be booked in advance by emailing: admin@sbc.edu.au

This schedule ensures that all students can access timely and focused help, with flexibility to suit different learning needs and study loads.

  • Reminded that while support includes editing skills, the service does not involve editing or proofreading the work for you

By coming prepared, students can make the most of their 30-minute sessions and build lasting academic confidence.

Student Common Area

The student common area is a central gathering space designed to offer rest, refreshment, and connection outside the classroom. It serves as a social hub, a quiet retreat, and a practical place for students to recharge during their day.

  • Fully accessible kitchen – Equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee machine, the kitchen allows students to prepare lunch, make tea or coffee, and enjoy complimentary milk and biscuits provided by the College.

  • Community atmosphere – The space is open and inclusive, offering a place where friendships are formed and informal discussions continue beyond the classroom.

  • Flexible use – Whether you’re taking a quiet break, having lunch, or sharing ideas with fellow students, the common area is designed to support the rhythms of student life.

Transport & Parking

St Barnabas College is conveniently located in North Adelaide, with a variety of public transport options and short-term parking available nearby. Whether you’re commuting from the city or the suburbs, the College is easy to access by train, bus, or car.

Getting to the College:

  • By train – Adelaide Railway Station is just a 10–15 minute walk from the College. Exit the station, turn left towards Adelaide Oval and St Peter’s Cathedral — the College is directly opposite the Cathedral on King William Road.

  • By bus – Multiple bus routes service the area, with stops located just a few metres from the College entrance.

  • By car – On-street parking is available along King William Road and nearby streets. Please note that most parking is short-term and may be time-restricted, so always check signage.

Whether walking, driving, or catching public transport, getting to class at St Barnabas is simple and accessible.
